Adventure #5...November in a Nutshell

yes, this is a weak attempt at a title, and to blur the whole month into ONE post...what kind of blogger AM i!?!?! :)  Sorry friends...you get what you get:)  Here is a fun update from the month...i wish i had more pictures to share, but there are a feW!

November in a Nutshell...

·   I participated in jury duty for the first time in my life. It was fun…although I would have loved to be more involved and do my civic duty, I was a little relieved when I was not picked.  It was a highly covered case here in the county.  So instead, I got paid to sit in the courtroom for one day and read a book. No complaints from this girl….:) oh, except the seating in there should be paddedJ hehe  Here was the trial result:  Trisha Stratman
Mom, Me, Sister
28 Weeks

·   We had our first baby shower back home at my sister’s house.  it was fabulous! actually pretty surreal to see all of these adorable baby things…and wait……this is for OUR baby…J  it’s a great thought…but I still sometimes need to stop and think about it. weird.  I love my family…my sister/mom really know how to throw a good party! Baby Young is one lucky kiddo!
·   We got a cocktail table for our kitchen.  It was a nifty lil switch-er-roo that my sister and I did with tables.  It rocks!! Our kitchen is small and has been sans-kitchen table since we have lived there…and I have just felt like our kitchen was never complete.  Well, it now has a more “home-y” feel to it….i love it!!! J
·   Participated in the Pahl cookie bake!! yippee! We didn’t get to stay very long, but it is always nice to catch up with all the Aunties and their crazy cookie bakeJ They are, straight up, IMPRESSIVE!  Then I got to babysit our nephew, Easton, for the first timeJ He was an angel!! lexi had fun with him too….although there was an ABUNDANCE of puppy kisses, but Easton didn’t seem to mind one bitJ

Yes...we stood outside.

·   Went Black Friday shopping at midnight…probably won’t do that again, ironically, I actually think I like waking up early better….less competition.  We stood in line for almost 2 hours for a TV…just to go up to pay for it and be told they are “out”….hmm….thanks, pretty ballsy comment to a pregnant lady who is up WAY past her bedtime.

·   Hunter has been spending a lot of time hunting.  Has he gotten a deer, you ask…?  No…I don’t know what the hold up is?….Daddy needs to “provide for the family”J hehehe jk!
·   We are in super doper basement mode…and its pretty much DONE!! YIPPPEEEE!!! We completed the painting/carpeting on November 30th.  I will post pictures soon, maybe in my “holiday bucket list update”…assuming I follow through and actually do oneJ ha.  Last night (December 1st…so technically this should be in the December updateJ), it was completed with the hanging of wall décor, deer heads (YES, I said deer heads…and YES, I am the best wife ever) and a new TV…woot woot!  ALSO…lexi was VERY scared of the basement throughout this entire process…..she now….LOVES it…or is at least getting CLOSER to loving it. That makes Hunter and I VERY happy.  But who were we kidding…she’d go crazy not hanging out and spending quality time with us…and visa versaJ  Love that lil puppy pants.
·   Oh, did I mention I have an abdominal hernia? Yea, weird, right?  So I got that checked out…its above my belly button, and it sticks out.  So I have a hernia, NOT a belly button, that sticks out of my pregnant belly. awkward.  I am advised to get it surgically removed post-babykins.
·   We went xmas tree hunting…I am going to save that for the December update…just seems more fittingJ

Please note, this is NOT my actual belly,
but this is what it looked like:)
Oh…one last thing, also, should be in a December update, but I just cant wait any longer…I had the greatest little surprise this morning…as I was lubing up my baby belly (sorry, was that a bad mental picture? hehehe) I looked in the mirror (which I often try to avoid) and saw this CRAZY looking thing on my belly…started to have a mini-heart attack wondering what is THAT now…and finally…a light bulb went on…it was Baby’s foot!!…Okay, to be honest, I am not 100% sure what body part it was, but it is now permanently engraved in my memory as Baby’s footprint. and SERIOUSLY…it was the most precious little footprint I could have ever imagined….that is OUR baby’s lil foot!!  I called hunter instantly and told him about it and said how I wish he would have been able to see it with me…instead, I made lexi check it out…she was impressed!!

SUPER PUPPY!! :) All she needs is a cape!

And to make this blog post complete...it needs a picture of my precious lil peanut! :)

Adventure #4- The Young Holiday Bucket List

I feel like sometimes i have these great ideas...or should i say great intentions to get things done around the house, or to try new things but for some reason just don't quite get around to do them.  So in effort to make things more achievable for the remainder of the year, I made a "bucket list" that i am going to hang on my refrigerator with hopes that it will be a reminder of what i want to accomplish for the remainder of the year.  I'm sure some of these events will become adventures in themselves and i hope to document them on here.  Sorry i have been MIA for the last month or so, I probably should have put "be a better blogger" as one of my bucket list items, but that will just be assumed!

Below...The Young Family Holiday Bucket List... :)

Lucky…

I’m going to write this blog, because I fear that any day, my luck may run out, and I don’t want to forget about how appreciative I am of the past 20 weeks.
I am now officially 20 weeks and 1 day pregnant. Lil one is growing like a lil bean, just the way he/she should be….now the size of a “small” cantaloupe…which is all relative, I suppose.  But this morning as I am cruising along on a brisk fall morning, with lil Miss Lexi-pants…I had the thought….i feel GREAT.  Not necessarily GREAT, but…normal.  I feel I am VERY lucky to be able to say at 20 weeks pregnant. I feel the same as I did 22 weeks ago before being pregnant.  I am forever grateful for this.
Now…lets just hope the next 20 weeks are just as splendid. They will, but I have a feeling they might not be as “perfect” and “normal” as it is now.
Thank you Baby Young for being so cooperative with your momma. You make life good, and makes it easy to say there WILL be a Baby #2….okay, okay, lets not get ahead of ourselves…. we’ll see how labor goes;) hehehe
Happy Friday!

Adventure #3....Ultrasound Day

Holy cats!! ITS FINALLY HERE AND WENT!! CRAZY!!  I had a TON of mixed emotions of the day when the ultrasound day finally arrived.  I had heard it was a VERY emotional day of excitement and that it really makes things feel real…so I thought I was going to be a blubbery mess.

Exhibit A
Lil One's Foot

Don’t get me wrong, it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to see that lil goblin (as I now refer to our baby, please see exhibit a, b AND c)J movin’ and a shakin’.  I think we didn’t have AS much of the excitement/emotional aspect of the day because we didn’t find out what the gender of our lil baby was going to be.  Which is AWESOME, I can’t wait to hear that news in five months….build the anticipation…you know me and my surprisesJ

Ultrasound was interesting, there were a lot of “business like” tasks occurring, of measuring the size of each part of the lil one including its head, making sure all the limbs were there, measuring its brain, and probably a TON more important things that went STRAIGHT over my head.

Exhibit C
I TOLD you he/she looked like a goblin:)

I wish that during the ultrasound we could also HEAR the sounds that are going on inside my belly, those are the moments I love….hearing the pitter-patter of that heart beat and the white noise of movement….we’ve got an active oneJ

All in all, those pictures make me smile…ear to ear….no matter how silly and alien-like the lil one looks….its OUR lil alien, and I cant wait to meet him/her.  AHH! the anticipationJ

Adventure #2....Being Pregnant!

This was written….~August 25th….sorry for the lack of posting "promptness"

I have been meaning to start writing a more up to date blog about my pregnancy…….enter week (almost) 18…..apparently I have pushed it off long enough.

I held back because I didn’t know where/how to document this AMAZING “thing” that is going on in our lives right now…did I want it on paper, did I want to do a blog, do I use one of the websites that are out there?  So, I decided this was an adventure in itself, so I shoul stick to this as my scapegoat for the next 22+/- weeks… so bare with me, most people will find this, NOT interestingJ But for me and baby…I cant wait to look back on it.

I am starting to actually show….don’t  get me wrong, I was showing before, but now you can tell it is more than the fact that I have just “skipped the gym” too many weeks.  Thankfully, I have NOT had to skip the gym, so that keeps me feeling better about things, that I am doing my best to stay healthy fit for my lil one as a momma.

I could go on forever, but I’ll fill out a fun lil survey insteadJ

FUN LIL SURVEYJ

1.) When did you find out you were pregnant?
May 29th

2.) How far along are you?

17 weeks and 6 days

3.) Your due date?
February 2, 2012

3.) Do you think you're having a boy or a girl?
I think it will be a boy.  My mother-in-law mentioned early on in my marriage/relationship with hunter that if I wanted to have a girl, I would “need to do handstands”....lets just say “there were no handstands in the making of this child” J

4.) Think you're having or are having twins/multiples?
No….thats just crazy talk.
5.) If it's a boy, what will you name him?
PSHHHH….you act as though hunter and I are THAT “on top” of things.  We have thrown out a lot of names….but none that we have committed to.

6.) If it's a girl, what will you name her?
See Answer #5
7.) Have you gained any weight, how much?
Around 5 lbs….
8.) What are you
craving?Pshhhhh…that’s a good question, I don’t have too many cravings…yet.  BUT…I do eat A LOT of peanut butter, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and more cereal.  I would say I’ve STOPPED eating more things than I have started.
9.) What
food do you hate?Egg Whites, potato salad, marinated chicken, creamy dressings….and I used to LOVE those things…weird.
10.) What are your symptoms today?
Excitement: Each day I am one day closer to meeting our lil one….this makes me BEYOND excited.
Happiness:  Every day I am happy…when I think of my baby, I smile, when I daydream about hearing the lil ones heartbeat, I feel like I glow
Lack of patience: I want to meet our baby NOW.  Don’t get me wrong, I would never wish time away, because it is so precious, and there is SO much fun and exciting things that will happen between now and February 2nd…..but time does seem to move in slowwwwwwwww motionnnnnn….

11. What was the worst symptom you experienced?

Exhaustion….you could put me horizontal at any time of the day and I could fall asleep, no questions asked.  Also, baby brain…..my husband, often times asked, “is that baby sucking EVERYTHING out of you?”
J

12.) Have you bought anything yet? What?
Some clothing for BOTH gendersJ Momma Gillman has also purchased some fun things for babyJ This week (09/05/11) we purchased crib and stroller, and dressers for the baby roomJ  Now I am eager to go get some paint samplesJ

13.) Is this your first baby? If not which number?
YESSSS!!!
J

14.) Are you single, married, or engaged?
Married
JJ

15.) How old are you?
27
16.) If he's a boy are you going to have him circumcised?
Yes…
17.) Are you going to breast feed?
Gonna try!!
J

18.) How are you feeling today (emotionally)?
Good….most days are good days.  Don’t ask Hunter, he might have another opinion;) heheh
19.) How do you plan on giving birth? Naturally? C-section? Drugs? No drugs?
Naturally…most likely w/drugs….who am I trying to fool??

Adventure #1....Start a Blog.

As I sit down to embark on my first blogging adventure, I have not officially decided if this blog will be something I’ll share with others….orrrr….will this be a mini-diary of my (our) life, because life is just FLASHING before my eyes and many days I feel I can’t keep up or remember all of the important (or non-important) details.  This just might be the documentary that I need.

Just a synopsis of our lives so far….
·         Married for 1 year and 46 days
·         Dating for 5 years and 47 days
·         Homeowners for 1 year and 145 days
·         Puppy-Parents of a “mini-lab”, Lexi :) ….many more adventures to come with THAT one…
·         Hunter and I are a ripe “Young” age of 31 and 27 (respectively), and he works as a firefighter at Fort Mc Coy fire department, and I work at the County (no need to elaborate on that  one…) J
·         If you are reading this….I assume you already know all of that silly information plus waayyyyy moreJ

Just to start off on this week’s adventure…Hunter and I are puppy sitting his parents dog, Annie.  Hunter has gently suggested to me 5-10 times that maybe we should get another puppy for lil miss Lexi to play with.  Each time I respond with a VERY stern “no.”  So since I feel rather safe in the fact that hunter will most likely NEVER read this blog…I can say this out loud and he can’t hold me to it…..Having Two Dogs=Kind of FunJ

As many of you know, hunter and I are OBSESSED w/ lexi…we love her like a human being.  I, personally, find dogs to be very enlightening and intriguing.  I think its amazing that they have have personalities just like humans, and on a daily basis i wish Lexi could talk.  Life would be fun if she could talk....assuming I actually liked what she had to say:)

To give you an idea of the “fun” we were able to have all week when it was in the 90s w/ a heat index in the 100s….enjoy this pictureJ  I am pretty sure Annie can’t wait to go home….to her REALLLLL swimming poolJ

Moral of the story: Sharing a kiddie pool is for the birds….and “mini-labs”J

Until the next adventure….;)
